Amanda Bovingdon Perinatal Counselling

My Perinatal counselling refers to your pregnancy (regardless of birthing outcome) and the 12 months after the birth. This can be a time of vulnerability for most women and can be associated with emotional and psychological difficulties which I believe I can support you with. A GP referral is all that is required for you to access three medicare rebated (so free to you) sessions with me. I am outreach and happy to come to your home, or wherever is comfortable for you

All women who are pregnant, or have been pregnant in the past 12 months (regardless of the birthing outcome) are entitled to three free (medicare rebated) perinatal counselling sessions.

All that is required to access this service, is a note, or letter from your GP

What is non-directive counselling? This is a form of counselling based on the understanding that, in many situations, people can resolve their own problems without being provided with a solution by the counsellor. The service involves the counsellor undertaking a safe, confidential process that helps the patient explore concerns they have about a pregnancy. This includes providing unbiased, evidence-based information about all options and services available to the patient, where requested. The service can address all pregnancy-related issues for which non-directive counselling is appropriate. An eligible person’s partner may attend counselling sessions, however, only one fee (for the patient) applies to each service.

A lot happens in our life when we fall pregnant. Our bodies change, our minds change, our relationships change, and our way of thinking changes. Sometimes the pregnancy ends in the birth of a beautiful child, and sometimes it doesnt. Sometimes we just need to talk about that.

Sometimes we miscarry our babies, sometimes we decide to terminate a pregnancy, and sometimes our babies are born angles and leave us here to stay, and sometimes those babies are born and live and add to the beauty of life...... Regardless of the outcome of that pregnancy, we are entitled to reach out and talk to someone about our feelings and issues we may face.
